The Pottstown Historical Society, located in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the history and culture of the Pottstown area. Founded in 1966, the Society’s mission is to collect, preserve and interpret objects, documents, photographs and relics from the area’s past. The Society works to make this material available to the public through educational presentations, research and publications.

The Society has a museum located in the old Pottstown Post Office building. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Exhibits in the museum include displays of artifacts and documents related to the history of Pottstown, with special emphasis on its industrial history, as well as its Victorian and Colonial architecture. The museum also features a research library where visitors can access materials related to the history of Pottstown.

In addition to the museum and library, the Society also promotes and supports other activities related to the history of Pottstown. The Society hosts regular lectures and presentations, often featuring guest speakers. It also offers educational programs for school groups and other organizations. Additionally, the Society is involved in numerous preservation projects around the area, including the restoration of a one-room schoolhouse and the preservation of a historic cemetery. Finally, the Society also publishes a quarterly newsletter, The Pottstown Historian, which includes articles about local history and news of the Society’s activities.
