The Bethel Township Preservation Society (BTPS) was established in Garnet Valley, Pennsylvania in 1990. The purpose of BTPS is to preserve the history and culture of Bethel Township and the surrounding area. It has been a registered non-profit since 1993.
The society works to protect historic sites and buildings in Bethel Township and its vicinity by advocating for their preservation. The society has worked on numerous preservation projects which include the restoration of the Baily-McFarland Homestead, the preservation of the former Garnet Valley High School, and the restoration of the historic St. John’s Church.
The society also sponsors a variety of activities and events throughout the year such as lectures, tours, and workshops. They also host an annual Harvest Fair which is held in October.
BTPS offers educational programs for local students, including field trips to local historical sites. The society also operates a museum in the community, which offers exhibits on local history and culture.
In addition to their preservation and educational efforts, BTPS also engages in other activities such as providing financial assistance to local organizations, sponsoring a variety of community events, and participating in community service projects.
