The Frackville Historical Society is a non-profit organization located in Frackville, Pennsylvania. Established in 1964, the Society is dedicated to preserving the history and culture of Schuylkill County and its surrounding areas. The Society collects, preserves, and makes available for research and educational purposes, material related to the history of the region.
The Society is housed in the former Frackville High School, now known as the Frackville Historic Building, and is open to the public. The building is home to many historical artifacts, including photographs, books, and documents, as well as a library containing a full selection of works pertaining to local and regional history.
The Society also sponsors a number of annual events, such as the Frackville Historical Festival, which celebrates the history of the region. The festival includes vendors, music, and food, as well as speakers and displays. The Society also hosts historical lectures and educational programs throughout the year.
The Society is managed by a board of directors and volunteers and is funded by donations and grants. The Society is a member of the Frackville Area Chamber of Commerce and the Pennsylvania Historical Society. The Society also works in partnership with other local organizations, such as the Frackville Area Public Library, to promote education and appreciation of the region's history.
