BOEHM'S CHAPEL

WILLOW STREET, PA

Solar Eclipse 2017 - Beginning to End I really had doubts that this one was going to work out! The forecast was calling for a 60% chance of thunderstorms in Lancaster, PA. I had some trouble with thick clouds in the beginning but in the end - it all worked out. Each photo was made with a Canon 70D and a Canon 17-40 mm f/4L lens @ 36 mm. Boehm's Chapel is a historic chapel located in Willow Street, Pennsylvania. The chapel was originally constructed in 1740, making it one of the oldest churches in the county. The building is a one-story stone structure with a gable roof and a stone bell tower. The chapel was built in the Germanic tradition, using the same type of stone that was used to construct many of the early Pennsylvania German homesteads.

The interior of the building is simple and unadorned, with a single aisle, flat-paneled wainscoting and exposed beams. The pews are original, and the pulpit is made of black walnut. The chapel still contains its original organ, which is one of the oldest organs in the United States.

The exterior of the building is covered with ivy, and the bell tower is topped with a weathervane. The chapel is located in the center of a cemetery, which is surrounded by a wrought iron fence. The cemetery contains the graves of many of the early settlers of the area, as well as a number of Revolutionary War veterans.

Boehm's Chapel is a reminder of the area's German heritage, and is a popular destination for visitors who are interested in the history of the area. The chapel is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and is open to the public for tours.
