The Carbon County Historical Society in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, is dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich history of Carbon County. The Society was founded in 1965 and has since grown to include four museums, a library and archives, and a gift shop.

The Society's four museums offer visitors a glimpse into the past of Carbon County, including the Asa Packer Mansion Museum, the Eckley Miners' Village, the Mauch Chunk Museum, and the No. 9 Coal Mine & Museum. The Asa Packer Mansion Museum is a National Historic Landmark and offers tours of the 19th-century home of railroad magnate Asa Packer. The Eckley Miners' Village is a living museum that provides an authentic glimpse into the lives of 19th-century coal miners. The Mauch Chunk Museum is located in the former Mauch Chunk Opera House and showcases artifacts from Carbon County's industrial and cultural heritage. The No. 9 Coal Mine & Museum is a former anthracite coal mine that offers guided tours of the mine and the miners' village.

The Society also houses a library and archives that are open to the public. The library has a variety of books, periodicals, and photographs related to Carbon County's history. The archives contain a variety of documents and artifacts that document the lives of Carbon County residents. The Society also offers a gift shop that features a selection of souvenirs and memorabilia related to the area's history.
