The Susquehanna Depot Historical Society (SDHS) is a non-profit organization located in Susquehanna, Pennsylvania. Established in 1973, the mission of the SDHS is to preserve the history of the Susquehanna Depot and the surrounding community. The SDHS has a museum located in the historic Susquehanna Depot, which houses artifacts, photographs, and other memorabilia related to the history of the depot, Susquehanna, and the surrounding area. The museum also offers special events, such as lectures and theater performances.
In addition to the museum, the SDHS also owns and operates two historic properties. The first is the Susquehanna Depot, which was built in 1872 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The depot is home to the museum, as well as a number of other buildings, including an engine house, the old railroad station, and a passenger shelter. The second property is the former Susquehanna Lumber Company, which is adjacent to the depot. This property includes a number of buildings, including a sawmill, sash factory, and lumber shed.
The SDHS is committed to preserving the history of Susquehanna Depot and the surrounding community. The Society holds regular meetings to discuss current projects, and volunteers are always welcome. In addition, the SDHS offers educational programs and field trips to the museum and other historical sites in the area.
