KEYSTONE MODEL RAILROAD HISTORICAL SOCI

The Keystone Model Railroad Historical Society (KMRHS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and operation of model railroads in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. KMRHS was formed in 1978 and has since become one of the largest model railroad clubs in the state, with over 500 members. The society maintains several layouts in their 4,000 square foot facility, including a permanent N-scale layout, a permanent HO-scale layout, and a temporary O-scale layout. The O-scale layout is a 1:48 scale model of the Norfolk and Western Railway's Coal Valley Line, which ran from Roanoke, Virginia to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The HO-scale layout is a 3-rail layout that models the Pennsylvania Railroad’s Harrisburg Division and is set in the early 1950s. The N-scale layout is a freelanced layout based on northern Pennsylvania in the 1950s and 1960s. KMRHS also hosts an annual Open House, which features operating layouts, clinics, and sales by vendors. In addition, the society offers an extensive library of books, magazines, and videos related to model railroading. KMRHS provides a valuable service to the model railroad community by preserving and operating layouts of historical significance.
