MUSEUM COUNCIL OF PHILA

The Museum Council of Philadelphia (MCP) is a non-profit organization of professionals who work in and support the museum field in the Greater Philadelphia region. Founded in 1947, MCP's mission is to advance the cause of museums in the Greater Philadelphia region. MCP serves as a forum for the exchange of ideas, a source of information and support, and a vehicle for collaboration among museum professionals in the region. MCP's membership consists of museum professionals, volunteers, educators, and other individuals who are dedicated to the field of museums.

MCP works to advance the cause of museums through professional development, advocacy, public education, and leadership. Through its annual program of activities, MCP provides professional development opportunities such as conferences, workshops, and webinars. The Council also supports and advocates for museums in the region, and works to increase public awareness of museums and their importance to the region’s cultural life. MCP also provides leadership and guidance to the region's museum community, and works in partnership with other museum-related organizations.

MCP is governed by a Board of Directors, composed of museum professionals from the region. Board members are elected by the general membership and serve three-year terms. The Board meets monthly and is responsible for setting policy, managing finances, and overseeing the organization's activities.

MCP is open to anyone interested in the museum field. Members can take advantage of the many benefits and resources offered by the Council, including access to professional development opportunities, a network of museum professionals, and advocacy for the museum field.
