The Lomita Railroad Foundation Inc. is a non-profit organization located in Lomita, California. The foundation was formed in 2002 to preserve, restore and promote the history of the Pacific Electric Railway. The foundation is dedicated to preserving, restoring and operating the Lomita Railway Museum, which is located at the former depot of the Pacific Electric Railway. The museum contains a collection of historic buildings and artifacts from the Pacific Electric Railway.
The foundation owns and maintains the historic railroad equipment, including the Pacific Electric Railway’s original locomotives, cars and artifacts. The foundation also organizes and hosts special events and activities, such as the annual Lomita Rail Festival, which features train rides, crafts, food and music. The foundation also offers educational programs and workshops for both adults and children.
The foundation is funded through donations, grants and the support of the City of Lomita. The foundation is run by a volunteer board of directors, who are dedicated to preserving and promoting the history of the Pacific Electric Railway.
