Shelby County Historical Society in Columbiana AL is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting Shelby County’s history and heritage. Founded in 1967, the Society is committed to collecting and preserving artifacts, photographs, oral histories, and other materials that document the history of the area. The Society’s mission is to promote an appreciation and understanding of the past, and to foster an appreciation of Shelby County’s unique culture and history.

The Society’s headquarters are located in the former Columbiana Post Office building. Visitors can browse collections of books, documents, photographs, and artifacts related to the county’s history. The Society also offers educational programs and events, such as lectures, tours, and exhibits.

The Society has an active membership program and is always looking for volunteers. Membership benefits include access to the Society’s library and archives, discounts on Society events and merchandise, and invitations to special events.

The Society also publishes a quarterly newsletter, The Shelby County Historical Society Newsletter. This publication is filled with articles, stories, and photographs of the county’s past and present. The Society also maintains a website and social media presence, where visitors can explore the history of Shelby County and stay informed about upcoming events and activities.
