The National Christmas Center in Paradise, PA, is a museum dedicated to the celebration of Christmas throughout history. Opened in 2005, the 10,000-square-foot building is filled with a variety of interactive displays, collections and artifacts that document the history of Christmas. From its origins as a pagan winter solstice celebration to its modern incarnation, the National Christmas Center is a celebration of the spirit of Christmas.

The museum is divided into a number of themed galleries, each of which highlights a different aspect of Christmas. Visitors can explore the origins of the holiday, learn about the history of Santa Claus, view vintage decorations and toys, and experience a Victorian-era Christmas. The museum also features a number of interactive displays and activities, including a gingerbread house-building contest and a reindeer petting zoo.

Solar Eclipse 2017 - Beginning to End I really had doubts that this one was going to work out! The forecast was calling for a 60% chance of thunderstorms in Lancaster, PA. I had some trouble with thick clouds in the beginning but in the end - it all worked out. Each photo was made with a Canon 70D and a Canon 17-40 mm f/4L lens @ 36 mm. (1/160 sec, ISO 200, Baader Solar Filter, f/7.1)
The North Star and the Wildflowers A circumpolar star trail was imaged above a field of wildflowers in Lancaster, PA. The photo was made of 41 twenty second exposures taken with a Canon T6s and a Canon 8-15 mm f/4L lens. (ISO 400, 9mm, f/4.0) The images were stacked using StarStaX.
Autumn Moonrise thru the Covered Bridge Hunsecker’s Mill Bridge is a central Pennsylvania landmark and holds the record for the longest span of any covered bridge in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The wooden bridge was first built in 1848 and rebuilt in 1973 following hurricane damage. Using Stellarium and some good ole’ fashion trigonometry, the optimal time to photograph the rising full moon through the historic bridge was determined. If you look closely, you can see the familiar “V” pattern of Hyades as well as the Pleiades cluster near the top of the star field.
The Meteor and the Flower Moon LPOD on June 7, 2013 -- lpod.wikispaces.com/June+7%2C+2013 ( <a href="http://lpod.wikispaces.com/June+7,+2013" rel="noreferrer nofollow">lpod.wikispaces.com/June+7,+2013</a> ) A bright meteor along with the full "flower" moon are seen illuminating the Lancaster, PA countryside. The image was made of 415 twenty second exposures (about 2.5 hours). Each image was taken with a Canon T2i (f/5.0 with a Sigma 10-20 mm lens @ 14 mm / ISO 400) and stacked using StarStax. This must have been some meteor! I unfortunately must have been looking away but at least it was captured in the image.
The Fog Bank across the Stream A fog bank is seen engulfing a flowing stream in Lancaster, PA. Two stop (-2, 0, +2) HDR processing was done using Photomatix and light processing in Photoshop Elements. I originally wanted to photograph the thin crescent moon and Venus pairing; however, the clouds and fog had other plans! Despite missing the moon, I really like the way the photo turned out. Venus can be seen to the left of the tree in the middle of the photograph.
