Siemens Big Creek's entry to the Pacific changes frequently, but the current loss of sand leaving exposed rock makes the beach north of Ponzler inaccessible near normal high tides and the erosion of the creek bank combined with beach erosion has now cut all the way to the 101 bridge over Big Creek as we see it in a King Tide. Both the north and south sides of the creek as it enters the beach were, until a few years ago, piled 10 feet high with big driftwood and filled with sand, protecting the creek banks from wave erosion near to the US 101 bridge.
