Paving Old Highway 99 at Oakland Bridge Contractors for the Oregon Department of Transportation pave Old Highway 99 at the northwest end of the new Oakland Bridge in Douglas County on April 8, 2024. Construction began in February 2022 and a single lane of traffic was shifted onto the new bridge on February 28, 2024.

The Douglas County Historical Society in Roseburg, Oregon was established in 1971 to preserve the history and culture of Douglas County and its surrounding areas. Located in the heart of the Umpqua Valley, the Society has a rich and varied collection of artifacts, photographs and documents that tell the story of the people and places of Douglas County. The Society is housed in the historic Douglas County Courthouse, which was built in 1916 and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

The Society offers several programs to the public, including lectures, exhibits, educational activities and tours. The Society's annual Summer Festival features traditional music, activities, displays and demonstrations. The Society also has a research center, where visitors can look up information about the history of the area.
