At some point in relatively recent history it was bought by the city and now houses the archives of the Perris Valley Historical Museum.

The Temecula Valley Genealogical Society (TVGS) is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1985 to serve the Temecula, California, area and its surrounding communities. The society is dedicated to helping individuals research and preserve their family histories, as well as educating the public on the importance of genealogy. Its members are made up of both professional genealogists and novice researchers.

The society meets monthly and holds a variety of workshops and educational programs throughout the year. Perris / downtown (# 0022) Though small, downtown Perris was in good shape with multiple, active, small businesses and many customers. The town is quite historic by Southern California suburban standards. It was founded in 1885 as a railroad town and is named after Fred Perris of the California Southern Railroad. Perris / classic market (# 0024) On one edge of downtown Perris, a classic supermarket that looks to date back to the 1950’s.
Perris / Perris Theater (# 0018) Opened in 1946, designed in an art-deco style but apparently modified at various times. It’s now owned by the city for its historical value to downtown, but closed due to structural problems. Pictures in the below links show the theater as once having a marquee around the base of the tall sign. Perris / SoCal Rail Museum UP 2564 (# 0007) Originally built in 1921 for a Union Pacific subsidiary and traded UP subsidiary “Oregon Short Line” in 1923 where it was used until 1955. Retired in 1959 and wound up at this museum in 1997. See: <a href="https://www.waymarking.com/waymarks/WMJJH1_Union_Pacific_Steam_Engine_2564" rel="noreferrer nofollow">www.waymarking.com/waymarks/WMJJH1_Union_Pacific_Steam_En...</a> The day I visited the museum there was almost no one there, which made it easier to explore the grounds but I didn’t get into any of the car barns. Pictures from visiting those at a previous time are with the tag to Southern California Railway Museum.
