The National Weather Center (NWC) in Norman, Oklahoma is a research and education hub for the atmospheric and related sciences. It is a unique collaboration between the University of Oklahoma, NOAA, and the State of Oklahoma, which provides a comprehensive approach to weather-related research, education, and operations.

The NWC is located on the University of Oklahoma campus, and is home to more than 50 organizations, including the NOAA National Severe Storms Laboratory, the OU School of Meteorology, the OU Cooperative Institute for Mesoscale Meteorological Studies, and the OU Center for Analysis and Prediction of Storms. The NWC is also the host of many major conferences, workshops and seminars in the field of atmospheric sciences.

The NWC is home to a wide range of research and operational activities, including weather forecasting, severe storm detection and prediction, climate research, and air quality and air pollution research. The NWC also provides educational opportunities for students, including the OU School of Meteorology undergraduate and graduate degree programs.

The NWC includes a variety of facilities, including a large weather radar system, a weather balloon launch facility, and a variety of research and teaching laboratories. In addition, the NWC provides state-of-the-art computer systems and software to support research and operations.

The NWC has a major impact on the Norman community and the State of Oklahoma. It provides jobs, stimulates economic activity, and promotes the development and application of research and technology related to weather, the environment, and public safety. The NWC is an important part of the University of Oklahoma, NOAA, and the State of Oklahoma's ongoing commitment to research, education, and public service in the atmospheric and related sciences.
