Ash Cave - Hocking Hills State Park The impressive size of Ash Cave makes it one of the gems of Hocking Hills State Park in Ohio. The magnitude of the rock formation is spectacular to behold, and highlighted in a photo by the small size of people seen on the floor of the cave. Ash Cave is in the southern area of Hocking Hills after a short quarter mile hike. The cave makes a horseshoe shape and goes about 700 feet from end to end and a rim that is 90 feet high. There is a waterfall from the rim to the floor, but on this day it was a thin stream of water hitting the pool below.
