The Lake County Historical Society is a nonprofit organization located in Painesville, Ohio. Founded in 1952, the society is dedicated to preserving the history of Lake County and promoting education about the region's past. Totally Cleveland Giving a nod to my home city. We hosted quite a few folks who came here to view the total solar eclipse. I'm so happy we had favorable weather.
Path to Totality in Cleveland Despite our usual gray skies here in Cleveland, OH, we were graced with somewhat clear viewing during the total solar eclipse on May 8th, 2024. This composite is created from images taken through my 9.25" Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope and a Canon EF 200mm L II lens x2 Extended using my Canon EOS 5D Mark III. Sadly, I missed capturing the details of solar prominence in 64Mp detail during totality, but three and a half minutes doesn't give you very much time to get all the images you want. I'm just grateful to have experienced this in my lifetime.

"What's ... this white stuff?" Malley in Winter
Double, Double... ... toil and trouble... The Double Star Cluster (in Perseus) and the double emission nebulae "Heart and Soul" (in Cassiopeia) as photographed in the Foraxx color palette. The image was integrated from over 200 individual images shot over several nights in the light-polluted city of Cleveland, OH. The Ha, Oiii, and Sii channels were extracted and recombined in false-color using PixInsight astrophotography software. 501nm (Oxygen 3) and 655nm (Hydrogen alpha) wavelengths ±3.5nm each with equivalent exposure of 4 hr 40min, 672nm wavelength ±3.25nm (Sulfur 2) with equivalent exposure of 3hr 9min. The original frames were shot using a Canon EF 200mm 1:2.8 L II lens (set at f/5) adapted to a ZWO ASI6200MC camera using a TS Optics M54 Canon Adapter.
