The Franklin Area Historical Society (FAHS) was established in 1980 in Franklin, Ohio, to preserve the history of the city and the surrounding communities. FAHS works to identify, collect, preserve, and interpret materials related to the area's past, such as photographs, manuscripts, artifacts, and other items. The Society also promotes a greater awareness of local history by sponsoring educational programs and publi­cations.

The FAHS has a library and archive that contains genealogical records, city directories, cemetery records, local newspapers, maps, and other documents. The collection also includes historic photographs and artifacts from the area. The Society also operates the Franklin Area Historical Museum, which contains many artifacts, photographs, and documents related to the history of the city and its people.

The FAHS also sponsors educational programs and special events throughout the year. Programs include lectures, tours, and workshops, as well as special events such as the Franklin Heritage Days festival. The Society also offers a variety of publications, including a quarterly newsletter and a series of historical books.
