The Piedmont Blues Preservation Society (PBPS) based in Greensboro, North Carolina, is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the musical heritage of the Piedmont blues. The PBPS is committed to protecting the rich musical legacy of the Piedmont blues by educating the public about the music and its influence on American culture.
The PBPS was established in 2004 and since then has worked to provide educational programs and events that promote the appreciation and understanding of the Piedmont blues. The organization works with local schools and universities to provide educational outreach workshops and concerts, sponsors blues festivals and competitions, and helps support and promote local blues musicians and venues.
The PBPS also works closely with the North Carolina Museum of History to preserve and promote Piedmont blues recordings and other artifacts. The organization is dedicated to making sure that the music and its legacy are remembered and kept alive.
The PBPS also offers community outreach programs such as the Community Music Project and the Blues in the Schools program. These programs provide music instruction and performance opportunities to disadvantaged youth in the Greensboro area.
In addition to its educational and preservation activities, the PBPS also sponsors an annual Blues Music Awards ceremony that honors the best and brightest in Piedmont blues music. The awards ceremony is held every year in Greensboro and is an important part of the organization’s mission to promote and celebrate the music and its legacy.
