The Bessemer City History & Arts Society was established to promote, preserve, and celebrate the history and culture of Bessemer City, NC. The Society is dedicated to the research and interpretation of the city's history and culture, and to the development of a vibrant and engaging cultural environment for all members of the community. The Society's activities include the preservation of historical documents, photographs and artifacts; the production of public programs and educational materials; and the promotion of local cultural heritage.
The Society offers educational programming and events, including lectures, exhibitions, and workshops. The Society also works to identify and protect historic structures, sites, and artifacts in the area, and to ensure that the city's past and present is accessible to the public. The Society has also established a museum, the Bessemer City Historical Museum, which houses collections of artifacts and documents.
The Society is an active participant in the civic life of the city, and works with a variety of institutions and organizations to promote the city's cultural heritage.
