The Friends of the North Carolina Maritime Museum at Southport (FOMM) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the educational, cultural and economic development of the Southport community through the preservation, interpretation and celebration of the maritime heritage of North Carolina. Located in Southport, a coastal town of Brunswick County, the museum is a unique destination that offers a variety of educational and recreational activities.

The FOMM was founded in 1987 to help preserve, protect and promote the maritime heritage of North Carolina. The museum provides educational programs and activities for school groups, community organizations and families. It also houses the oldest intact wooden sailing vessel in the state, the historic schooner “Adventure”. Visitors to the museum can explore the boat and learn about its history.
