Mountain Farm Life Museum Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational organization located in West Jefferson, North Carolina. The museum is dedicated to preserving and interpreting the history, culture and traditions of the Appalachian mountain farmers and their families who lived and worked in the area around West Jefferson.

The museum includes a collection of artifacts, photographs and stories highlighting the lives of the mountain farmers. Visitors can explore the museum’s four distinct sections: The Farmhouse, which displays furniture and household items from the late 1800s; The Blacksmith Shop, which displays tools and equipment from a variety of different trades; The Barn, which showcases livestock and farming equipment, and The Schoolhouse, which displays artifacts from the area’s one-room schoolhouses.

The museum also offers a variety of educational programs and workshops for school groups, adults and families. These programs include activities such as butter churning, soap making, apple cider pressing and wool carding. The museum also hosts special events such as the Annual Mountain Farm Life Festival and the Annual Mountain Farm Life Fair.

Mountain Farm Life Museum Inc. is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 5pm. Admission to the museum is free, but donations are accepted and appreciated.
