The Sackets Harbor Battlefield Alliance (SHBA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the historical significance of the Sackets Harbor Battlefield in Sackets Harbor, New York. The SHBA works to preserve and interpret the battlefield and the War of 1812 through programs and events, as well as through educational outreach. The SHBA also works to promote the battlefield as a tourist destination.
The SHBA was founded in 2000 and is composed of volunteers, local businesses, historians, educators and other community members. The organization is governed by a board of trustees and is supported by members, donors and grant funds. The SHBA works closely with the Town of Hounsfield and the Village of Sackets Harbor, as well as with other local, state and federal entities to promote the preservation of the Sackets Harbor Battlefield.
The SHBA works to preserve the battlefield’s historical significance and to encourage visitors to explore its rich history. The SHBA sponsors a variety of events throughout the year, including educational programs, lectures, reenactments, and a variety of other activities. The SHBA also offers guided tours and educational materials to promote the understanding and appreciation of the battlefield’s history. Additionally, the SHBA provides members with newsletters, special offers, and discounts.
