Perris / Perris Theater (# 0018) Opened in 1946, designed in an art-deco style but apparently modified at various times. It’s now owned by the city for its historical value to downtown, but closed due to structural problems.

Kimberly Crest is a historic Victorian mansion located in Redlands, California. It was built in 1897 for the Kimberly family and is a popular tourist attraction. The house and grounds were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.

The mansion is a three-story, 13,000-square-foot building constructed in the Queen Anne style. It was designed by architect James B. Carpenter, Jr. and built by local contractor William R. Nelson. The exterior is red brick and has a large wrap-around porch. The interior of the house is decorated in the Victorian style, including hand-carved woodwork, ornate plaster ceilings, and stained glass windows.

The grounds of Kimberly Crest include 7 acres of formal gardens. The gardens feature a variety of plants, trees, and shrubs, including roses, Japanese maples, and evergreen trees. There are also several fountains, gazebos, and a large stone staircase.

The house is open for tours and is available for special events, such as weddings and receptions. It is also the venue for the annual Kimberly Crest House & Garden Tour. In addition, the house is used for school and community events, and is often featured in movies and television shows.

Perris / SoCal Rail Museum UP 2564 (# 0007) Originally built in 1921 for a Union Pacific subsidiary and traded UP subsidiary “Oregon Short Line” in 1923 where it was used until 1955. Retired in 1959 and wound up at this museum in 1997. See:

The day I visited the museum there was almost no one there, which made it easier to explore the grounds but I didn’t get into any of the car barns. Pictures from visiting those at a previous time are with the tag to Southern California Railway Museum.

KC-10A Extender Conceptualized as the next generation of aerial tankers the KC-l0 combined the tasks of a tanker and cargo aircraft. Carrying more than 356,000 pounds of fuel - twice as much as the KC-135 Stratotanker – 75 personnel, and 170,000 pounds of cargo, the KC-10 could transport entire units of support personnel while re-fueling their deploying fighters enroute. The KC-10 could also be used to transport litter and ambulatory patients using patient support pallets during aeromedical evacuations.

Unlike previous re-fuelers, the KC-10's boom operator controls refueling operations through a digital, fly-by wire system. Sitting in the rear of the aircraft, the operator can see the receiver aircraft through a wide window. During boom refueling operations, fuel is transferred to the receiver at a maximum rate of 1,100 gallons per minute.

The KC-10 fleet was used extensively during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm in 1991, Operation Allied Force in 1999 and during the War on Terror following the September 11, 2001, attack.

The museum’s KC-10 Extender tail number 84-0185 was built in Long Beach California and delivered to the United Sates Air Force, March AFB in September 1984 with subsequent assignments to Travis AFB. It was flown to March Field Air Museum in 2023 for permanent display. It remains on loan from the NMUSAF.
