FRIENDS OF THE HIGH LINE

Friends of the High Line is a non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation, maintenance and continued development of the High Line, an abandoned elevated railway in New York City. The organization was founded in 1999 by Joshua David and Robert Hammond, two local residents who saw potential in the abandoned railway and decided to turn it into a public park. Since then, the organization has grown significantly and now has a board of directors, staff and nearly 5,000 members.

The High Line is an iconic feature of the city and attracts millions of visitors every year. Friends of the High Line is responsible for the ongoing care and preservation of the park, as well as organizing events and activities. The organization has been instrumental in the development of the park, which now features art installations, walking paths and places to rest and relax.

Friends of the High Line also runs educational programs, such as the High Line Nature Series and High Line Education, which offer visitors the chance to learn about the history of the High Line and its environment.
