The Newtown Historical Society in Ridgewood, NY is a non-profit organization that seeks to preserve the historical heritage of the Newtown area. Established in 1961, the Society has sought to protect and promote the history, artifacts, and stories of all the villages and hamlets of the Newtown region. The Society works to preserve the historical record of the area through its collections, as well as educational programs, lectures, exhibits, and publications.

The Society operates the Van Dien House Museum, a 17th century Dutch-American farmhouse located in Ridgewood. The museum houses a variety of artifacts from the Newtown area, including furniture, tools, clothing, and documents. The museum also hosts a variety of programs, including lectures, workshops, and school field trips.

The Society also operates the Historic Burying Ground, an 18th century cemetery located on the grounds of the museum. The cemetery contains the graves of some of the earliest settlers of the Newtown area, including members of the Van Dien, Berdan, and Blauvelt families.

The Historical Society also offers a variety of educational resources, such as books, articles, and pamphlets, as well as an archive of historic photographs and documents. The Society also offers an online calendar of events and activities related to local history.
