May 6, 2023: Junius Ponds as seen from just off Route 318, Junius, New York A view of one the Junius Ponds, as seen on a spring afternoon from just off State Route 318 in the town of Junius, New York. Long used as a source of drinking water for the nearby village of Lyons, this series of mecromotic glacial ponds is today maintained by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation as a habitat for a wide variety of rare flora and fauna, including one of the last remaining Upstate New York populations of the critically endangered bog turtle <i>(Glyptemys muhlenbergii)</i>.
December 8, 2022: "Welcome to Bedford Falls" sign, Seneca Falls, New York For the runup to the holiday season, the welcome sign along Routes 5 & 20 on the west end of downtown Seneca Falls, New York have been temporarily altered to read "Welcome to Bedford Falls". The village, which was visited by prominent film director Frank Capra in December 1945, is understood to be the inspiration behind the town of Bedford Falls as depicted in his film <i>It's a Wonderful Life</i>.
