The Saugerties Historical Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the history of Saugerties, NY, and its surrounding areas. Designed to carry the night airmail, it had excellent maneuverability, range, speed (130 MPH) and was considered a fvery modern equivalent of the the Pony Express in 1929.
In later years, because of their load-carrying ability, Pitcairns became popular as dusters.
Recently rebuilt, this plane was flown from Vancouver, Washington to the aerodrome in 33 hours.

In a Voisin airplane, Henri Farman accomplished the first circular and kilometer flights in Europe. After these publicized flights, Norvin Rinek of Easton, Pennsylvania contracted the Voisins to have this aircraft built in which to test his aircraft engines. This machine hung from the rafters of his factory for over sixty years.
