The Sheridan Historical Society was established in 1985 to preserve and promote the history of the small town of Sheridan, New York. The Society is located in the original Town Hall building, built in 1868 and is a member of the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus County Historical Association.

The Society strives to maintain and expand the area’s rich history, hosting several events throughout the year. These include lectures, exhibits, and programs that focus on the area’s history. The museum features a variety of historical artifacts from the community, including photographs, newspaper articles, and local memorabilia.

The Society’s research library contains a variety of books, journals, and documents related to the history of the area. It is open to the public by appointment. The Society also offers a variety of educational programs for children and adults.

The Society also works to preserve and maintain the historic buildings and landmarks of Sheridan. It has been involved in several restoration projects, including the restoration of the Town Hall, the First Methodist Church, and the Sheridan Monument.

The Society is dedicated to preserving the history of Sheridan and its surrounding areas. It is a valuable resource to the community and its residents, actively engaging in activities to promote the area’s rich history.
