The Ovid Historical Society is a community-led organization that was founded in 1971 to preserve and promote the history of the Ovid area in New York State. The Society's mission is to collect, preserve and disseminate information about the history of Ovid and its surrounding area.

The Society is housed in the historic Ovid Presbyterian Church, which was built in 1835 and is now a museum. The Society hosts a variety of exhibits, lectures and events throughout the year, such as the annual Ovid Historic Fair, which features live music and a reenactment of a 19th century schoolhouse. The Society also offers educational programs for adults and children, including field trips to local historical sites.

The Ovid Historical Society also maintains a library and archive which houses a wide range of books, photographs, documents and artifacts that are related to the history of Ovid. These collections are available to the public for research and study.

The Ovid Historical Society is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is supported by memberships, grants, donations and gifts. The Society also relies on volunteers to help with its activities and events. All proceeds benefit the Ovid Historical Society and go towards preserving and promoting the history of Ovid and its surrounding area.
