September 17, 2021: "The Eagle", Roscoe Conkling Park, Utica, New York Standing on a high ridge with a commanding view over the downtown skyline, <i>The Eagle</i> - a six-foot bronze statue sculpted in 1923 by noted artist Charles Keck - is one of the most well-known landmarks at Roscoe Conkling Park in Utica, New York.

The Town of Madison Historical Society is a non-profit, volunteer-run organization located in Madison, New York. Established in 1971, the Society is dedicated to preserving and educating the public about the history of Madison and its surrounding area. Through its museum and archives, the Society seeks to create an understanding of how the area has evolved over time.

At the museum, visitors can explore artifacts, photographs, and documents from the town’s past. Exhibitions feature a variety of collections, including Native American artifacts, military memorabilia, and farming and manufacturing tools. The museum also houses a research library with over 5,000 volumes and several thousand photographs and documents.

The Society also offers educational programs and events. Programs include lectures, walking tours, and workshops. The Society also hosts an annual Madison History Day, which includes a variety of activities, such as reenactments, exhibits, and a parade.

The Society is committed to preserving and sharing the town’s history. Its mission is to “foster the study of local history, to provide a forum to discuss and interpret the past, and to provide education and resources to the community.” The Society also works to promote the preservation of Madison’s historic buildings and sites.
