September 17, 2021: "The Eagle", Roscoe Conkling Park, Utica, New York Standing on a high ridge with a commanding view over the downtown skyline, <i>The Eagle</i> - a six-foot bronze statue sculpted in 1923 by noted artist Charles Keck - is one of the most well-known landmarks at Roscoe Conkling Park in Utica, New York.

The Town of Western Historical Society is located in Westernville, NY. The Society was founded in 1958 and is dedicated to preserving and educating the public on the history and culture of the Town of Western. The Society is housed in the beautiful two-story brick building in the center of the town. The building was originally built in 1846 as the town’s first Town Hall.

The Society houses a variety of items including photos, documents, maps, artifacts, and books. The Society also holds a number of events throughout the year including lectures, educational programs, and guided tours. They also host the annual Westernville Heritage Days in the summer which is a three-day celebration of the town’s history.

The Society is open to the public year-round and offers a number of services including research requests, group tours, and educational programs. Their mission is to promote the understanding and appreciation of the rich history and culture of the Town of Western. They strive to ensure that the Town’s history is preserved, documented, and shared with the community.
