Capital District Community Gardens (CDCG) is a non-profit organization that aims to provide access to fresh and healthy food to individuals and communities in the Capital Region of New York. The organization was established in 1975 and is located in Troy, NY.
CDCG operates over 50 community gardens across Albany, Rensselaer, Schenectady, and southern Saratoga counties. These gardens provide individuals and families with the opportunity to grow fruits and vegetables for their personal consumption. CDCG also manages several urban farms, including the Produce Project, a youth employment program that teaches teens how to grow and sell produce.
In addition to providing access to fresh produce, CDCG offers educational programs and workshops to the public. These programs cover a range of topics such as gardening, nutrition, and food preservation. CDCG also runs a Veggie Mobile program that delivers fresh produce to underserved communities in the Capital Region.
