Boscobel Restoration, Inc. is a non-profit organization located in Garrison, NY. The organization was founded in 1961 with the aim of preserving the historic Boscobel House and Gardens. Boscobel House is a Federal-style mansion that was built between 1804 and 1808 by States Morris Dyckman, a wealthy New York merchant. The house was designed by the famous architect Alexander Jackson Davis.
Over the years, Boscobel House fell into disrepair and was almost demolished. However, thanks to the efforts of Boscobel Restoration, Inc., the mansion was saved and restored to its former glory. Today, visitors to Boscobel House can take guided tours of the mansion and grounds, which are open to the public from April through December.
In addition to preserving Boscobel House, the organization also hosts a variety of educational programs and events throughout the year. These include lectures, concerts, workshops, and art exhibitions. Boscobel Restoration, Inc. is funded through donations and grants, and is run by a board of directors and a small staff of employees. The organization is dedicated to preserving and promoting the history and culture of the Hudson Valley region of New York.
