The Pelham Preservation Society Ltd. (PPS) is a non-profit organization based in Pelham, New York. It was founded in 1977 to preserve, restore and maintain the historic sites, buildings, properties and monuments located in Pelham. PPS works to educate both the local and the larger community about the history and value of Pelham’s buildings, monuments and sites.
PPS works with local government, business owners and other community members to identify and preserve sites of historic significance. It has been successful in the preservation of numerous historic buildings and sites throughout the village, including the Stone House, the Pelham Manor House, the Pelham Memorial Hall and the Pelham Bay Park.
PPS offers a variety of educational programs, lectures and tours for the public. It also produces an annual historic home and garden tour, which highlights the history and culture of the village, and provides a unique way to experience and appreciate the beauty of Pelham.
In addition, PPS works with the local government to protect and preserve the natural resources of Pelham, and to ensure that development is in line with the village’s preservation objectives. PPS also works with local organizations to promote the understanding and appreciation of Pelham’s history and culture.
The mission of PPS is to ensure that Pelham’s history and culture are preserved and made available to the public through education, preservation and promotion. PPS is committed to protecting and preserving the unique history of Pelham for future generations.
