The Dobbs Ferry Historical Society is an organization devoted to the history of Dobbs Ferry, New York. Founded in 1973, the Society is dedicated to preserving the unique history of the village and the surrounding area. The Society works to promote the appreciation of Dobbs Ferry’s history and attract visitors to the village by offering a variety of activities and services.
The Society maintains an extensive collection of artifacts, documents, photographs, and other materials related to Dobbs Ferry’s past. This collection is available for research by members of the public. In addition, the Society hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including lectures, tours, and workshops. The Society also offers educational programs to students and the general public, including a variety of museum exhibits and an annual Heritage Day celebration.
The Dobbs Ferry Historical Society is located in the historic Blauvelt House in Dobbs Ferry. The house was built in 1836 and is owned and maintained by the Society. It is open to the public and serves as the headquarters of the organization. In addition to the Blauvelt House, the Society owns and operates the Rail Trail and the Carriage House, both of which are open to the public and offer educational programs and activities.
