The Three Village Historical Society is a non-profit organization located in East Setauket, New York. The society was founded in 1964 with the mission to preserve and promote the rich history of the Three Village area, which includes Setauket, Stony Brook, and Old Field.
The society's headquarters are located in the historic Setauket Neighborhood House, which dates back to 1850 and was once a community center and schoolhouse. The building now serves as a museum and cultural center, featuring exhibits on the history of the Three Village area, as well as educational programs and events for all ages.
In addition to the Neighborhood House, the society maintains several other historic properties, including the Thompson House, which dates back to the 1700s and is home to the society's archives and research library. The society also oversees the preservation of the Caroline Church of Brookhaven, which was established in 1729 and is one of the oldest churches in the United States.
The Three Village Historical Society plays an active role in the community, sponsoring events and programs throughout the year, including historic walking tours, lectures, and workshops. The society has also been instrumental in the preservation and restoration of many historic sites in the area, including the Setauket Presbyterian Church and the Stony Brook Grist Mill.
