The New England Hebrew Farmers of the Emanuel Society is a historic agricultural community located in Riverdale, New York. Founded in 1905 by a group of Jewish immigrants from Eastern Europe, the community aimed to establish a self-sustaining agricultural village that would allow them to maintain their religious practices and cultural traditions.

The community consisted of approximately 40 families who worked together to cultivate crops, raise livestock, and produce dairy products. They also established a school, synagogue, and social center, all of which played important roles in maintaining their way of life.

Over time, however, the community faced numerous challenges, including declining membership, financial difficulties, and changing cultural attitudes. In 1947, the community sold its land to the Hebrew Home for the Aged, which later became the Hebrew Home at Riverdale.

Today, the New England Hebrew Farmers of the Emanuel Society is remembered as a unique and important chapter in Jewish-American history. Its legacy continues to inspire those who seek to preserve and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of immigrant communities.
