AUGUSTUS FRISBIE HOUSE

The Augustus Frisbie House is a historic building located in Salisbury Center, New York. The house was built in 1825 by Augustus Frisbie, a prominent local farmer and businessman. The house is a two-story, five-bay, Greek Revival style building. It is constructed of local sandstone and features a hipped roof with wide eaves and a central chimney. The house has a symmetrical façade, with a central entrance flanked by sidelights and topped with a fanlight. The windows are double-hung sash and the main entrance is framed by fluted pilasters and a dentil molded cornice.
The interior of the house consists of a center hall plan, with a parlor and dining room on either side of the central hall. The house was refurbished in the late 19th century, with the addition of a parlor stove and wallpapers. The house retains much of its original interior detail, including the parlor stove, original wide-board floors, and the original paneled doors.
The Augustus Frisbie House is an important example of Greek Revival architecture in the Mohawk Valley region. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is an important part of the historic Salisbury Center community.
