The Order of the First Families of Maine (FFM) is a hereditary society founded in Maine in 1981. It honors and preserves the memory of those who were among the first settlers in the State of Maine. The organization is open to any person who is a direct descendant of a person who settled in Maine prior to the year 1800. The Order's mission is to recognize those who settled in Maine before 1800, to preserve their memory, and to establish a permanent record of their descendants.
The FFM is organized into state chapters, which are located in each of Maine's sixteen counties. The Flat Rock Chapter of the FFM is located in Flat Rock, California. The chapter was organized in 2002 and currently has approximately 135 members. The chapter meets four times a year, and members are encouraged to participate in genealogical research and other activities to help promote and preserve Maine's early history.
The Flat Rock Chapter of the FFM is dedicated to the recognition and preservation of Maine's early history. The chapter sponsors educational programs, such as field trips and lectures, and provides a forum for the exchange of family histories and stories. The chapter also provides a directory of its members, which includes information about each person's ancestors.
In addition, the Flat Rock Chapter of the FFM offers a number of awards and scholarships to its members. These awards and scholarships are given to recognize the achievements of members in the areas of genealogical research, education, and community service. The chapter also publishes a quarterly newsletter, which contains information about the chapter's activities and news about its members.
