Fort Ticonderoga is a historical landmark located in Ticonderoga, New York. The fort was built in the mid-18th century by the French and was originally named Fort Carillon. The fort was strategically located on a peninsula between Lake George and Lake Champlain, which made it an important military stronghold during the French and Indian War.

During the American Revolution, the fort was captured by the Americans in a surprise attack led by Ethan Allen and Benedict Arnold. The fort played a significant role in the Revolutionary War as it controlled the waterways between Canada and the Hudson River Valley.

Today, Fort Ticonderoga is a popular tourist attraction that offers visitors the opportunity to explore the fort and its history. The fort has been restored to its original appearance, and visitors can see the barracks, cannons, and other military artifacts from the 18th century.

In addition to the fort, visitors can also explore the Kings Garden, an 18th-century garden that has been restored to its original design. The surrounding grounds offer beautiful views of Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains.
