MICHAEL SALYER STONE HOUSE

The Michael Salyer Stone House is a historic landmark located in Pearl River, New York. Constructed in 1764 by Michael Salyer, a farmer and stone mason, the house is a fine example of Dutch Colonial architecture. The two-story building is made of local fieldstone and features a steeply pitched roof with dormers, decorative lintels, and a central chimney. The interior of the house has been well-preserved, with original wood paneling, doors, and hardware still intact.

Over the years, the Michael Salyer Stone House has served a variety of purposes. It was used as a tavern during the American Revolution, and later as a residence for several generations of the Salyer family. In the early 20th century, the house was converted into a tea room and gift shop, and in the 1970s it was acquired by the Historical Society of Rockland County.

Today, the Michael Salyer Stone House is open to the public as a museum and cultural center. Visitors can explore the beautifully restored rooms and learn about the history of the house and the surrounding area.
