Built in 1914, Lock E-13's function was to lift and lower canal boats plying the Mohawk River a total height of eight feet. The complex consists of a row of 15 vertical lift gates surrounded at its four corners by concrete machinery cabins, topped with a movable steel truss dam 370 feet in width. On the south (right) side, a narrow concrete spillway carries water past a newly reconstructed lockhouse.

The Palatine House Museum is located in Schoharie, New York, in the heart of the Schoharie Valley. It was built in 1719 by the Palatine German immigrants who had arrived in the valley a few years earlier. The house is one of the oldest surviving structures in the state and is an excellent example of the traditional German Palatine architecture.

The Palatine House Museum is a two-story structure built of stone and wood and features a steeply pitched roof. The interior of the house is decorated with period furnishings and artifacts. The first floor consists of three rooms, while the second floor has four rooms, including the attic.

The Palatine House Museum is home to the Schoharie County Historical Society and serves as a museum dedicated to the history of the Palatine Germans, who settled in the Schoharie Valley in the early 1700s. The museum houses a variety of artifacts, including furniture, textiles, and tools. Visitors can learn about the history of the Palatine Germans, their customs, and their culture.

In addition to the museum, the Palatine House also hosts a variety of events, including lectures, workshops, and tours. The museum is open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 4pm and is free of charge. The Palatine House Museum is an important part of the history of the Schoharie Valley and a must-see for anyone interested in the history of the Palatine Germans.
