The Springfield Historical Society was established in 1964 in Springfield, New Jersey. The Society exists to preserve and promote the history of the township of Springfield. The Society operates out of the historic Miller-Cory House, built in 1740, which has been in continuous use since the late 1790s.
The Society provides educational programs, lectures, and tours of the Miller-Cory House. The house consists of three distinct sections: the main house, the kitchen, and the outbuildings. Inside the main house, visitors can explore the six rooms, which are decorated to represent the different eras in which the house has been occupied. In the kitchen, visitors can learn about colonial cooking and food preservation, and in the outbuildings, visitors can learn about the tools and technology of the past.
The Society also features exhibits at the Miller-Cory House, as well as other sites in the township. These exhibits explore the history of Springfield, from the early colonial era to the present day. The Society also organizes special events throughout the year, such as festivals, workshops, and crafts demonstrations.
The Springfield Historical Society is an active and vital part of the community, providing an important link to the past that many locals cherish. The Society is committed to preserving and promoting the history of Springfield and sharing it with the community.
