Pleasant Grove Primitive Baptist Church Religious and Historic is located in Ozark, Alabama. The church was established in 1837 and is the oldest Primitive Baptist Church in the state. The church is located on a beautiful, wooded hillside and is surrounded by white picket fences. The church is constructed in a traditional style with a steeple at the top and white clapboard siding.
The interior of the church includes original pews and pulpit as well as a large pipe organ. A painting of Jesus is displayed in the front of the church. The church is known for its old-fashioned hymns and preaching.
The church also has a cemetery that dates back to the1800s. There are many burials of veterans from the Civil War, World War I, and World War II. The cemetery also contains the gravesite of the church’s founder, Reverend James P. Jackson.
