The Ogdensburg Historical Society Inc. is an organization dedicated to preserving the history and culture of Ogdensburg, New Jersey. It was founded in 1972 and is a non-profit organization. The main purpose of the Society is to collect, preserve and display artifacts and documents related to the history of Ogdensburg and the surrounding area.
The Society has established a museum and research library at the Ogdensburg Municipal Building. The Museum houses a variety of artifacts from the Revolutionary War, Civil War and World War I, as well as local and family history items. The museum also has a research library containing books, newspapers, photographs and other documents related to the history of Ogdensburg and the surrounding area.
The Society also offers a variety of educational programs, such as lectures and workshops, and hosts events throughout the year, such as the Annual Ogdensburg Day, an annual festival celebrating the town's history. They also organize tours of local historical sites, such as the Ogdensburg Cemetery and the Ogdensburg Free Library.
The Society is also involved in preservation and conservation projects throughout the region. They have worked with local organizations on projects such as the Ogdensburg Historical Society Museum Project, which is focused on preserving the history of the region.
The Society is open to members who pay annual dues and those who wish to join can do so by completing the membership application. Membership includes access to the museum and library, discounts on events, and the privilege of voting in the annual election of the Board of Directors.
