The Medford Historical Society was established in 1975 by a group of interested citizens. The mission of the society is to collect, preserve and share the history and heritage of Medford and its surrounding areas. The Society is located in the historic and picturesque village of Medford, New Jersey.
The Society operates the Medford Historical Museum, which is located in the restored 19th-century building on Main Street. The museum houses a wide variety of artifacts and displays, including a schoolroom, a parlor, a kitchen and a general store. Also featured at the museum are exhibits about the local history of Medford, including its rich and diverse culture, economy, society and daily life.
The Society also maintains a research library that contains books, newspapers, maps and photographs related to Medford and its neighboring communities. The library is open to the public and available for research purposes.
The Medford Historical Society sponsors numerous educational and community events throughout the year, such as lectures, tours, workshops and field trips. The Society also offers a variety of classes and workshops on topics related to local history and culture.
The Medford Historical Society works in partnership with many organizations and individuals to promote the preservation of Medford’s history and heritage. The Society is dedicated to preserving the past for future generations.
