The Ensley-Mount-Buckalew House is a historic house located in Jamesburg, New Jersey. Built in the early 1800s, the house is a classic example of Federal-style architecture, with a symmetrical facade, central entrance, and evenly spaced windows on either side.
The house was originally built by Samuel Ensley, a prominent businessman and farmer in the area. It remained in the Ensley family for several generations before being sold to the Mount family in the early 1900s. The Mounts made several additions and renovations to the house over the years, including the addition of a sun porch and a third floor.
In the 1960s, the Buckalew family purchased the house and restored it to its original Federal-style appearance. Today, the house is a well-preserved example of early 19th century architecture, with original features such as wide plank flooring, hand-carved moldings, and a grand staircase.
The Ensley-Mount-Buckalew House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is open to the public for tours and special events. It is a valuable piece of New Jersey's architectural and cultural heritage, and a testament to the skill and craftsmanship of early American builders.
