The Parrish House Museum Foundation in Plainfield, NH is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of the town. It was established in 1987 when local citizens decided to preserve the home of William and Lucy Parrish, two of Plainfield’s early settlers. The house, built in 1797, is a two-story, five-bay colonial with a central chimney, and is believed to be the oldest surviving structure in Plainfield.

The museum houses a variety of artifacts and memorabilia related to Plainfield’s history, including photographs, documents, furniture, clothing, and tools. Visitors are encouraged to explore the house and its surroundings and to learn about the people and events that shaped the town’s history. The museum has a permanent exhibit of the Parrish family, as well as rotating exhibits on topics such as architecture, agriculture, arts and crafts, and local history.

The museum also hosts a variety of educational programs and events throughout the year, including lectures, workshops, and special events. The Parrish House Museum Foundation also works to promote conservation and preservation of the surrounding area, which includes a nature preserve and wildlife sanctuary. The Foundation also offers internships and volunteer opportunities for those interested in preserving the town’s history and heritage.
