The Edward-Dean Museum of Decorative Arts is a cultural and educational institution located in Cherry Valley, California. The museum was founded in 1958 by Edward Eberle and Dean Stout, who were both avid collectors of decorative arts. The museum is housed in a Spanish-style building that was originally constructed in 1959 as a private residence for Eberle and Stout.

The museum's collection includes over 15,000 objects spanning a wide range of decorative arts, including furniture, ceramics, glass, textiles, and metalwork. March Air Reserve Base It is the home to the Air Force Reserve Command's Fourth Air Force (4 AF) Headquarters and the host of the 452nd Air Mobility Wing (452 AMW), the largest air mobility wing of the Fourth Air Force. Today the host unit at March remains the 452 AMW, which in addition to its operational flying mission, also provides host base support for numerous tenant units. March JARB is also the home to Headquarters, Fourth Air Force (4 AF) of the Air Force Reserve Command and multiple units of the California Air National Guard.

On February 10, 1982, SAC announced that the 22nd would retire its B-52 fleet and re-equip with the new KC-10A Extenders. Six months later, March AFB received the new aircraft. The KC-135A Stratotankers, which had been a fixture at the base since the early 1960s, continued their mission at March—serving the Strategic Air Command’s alert and peace time needs.

In July 2021, the 2d ARS was the first KC-10 squadron to start conversion to the KC-46. In August 2021, the KC-10 took part in the largest non-combatant evacuation in support of Operation Allies refuge and contributing to the safe evacuation of more than 124,000 Afghan refugees.

In January 2022, March was proposed to get 12 KC-46 Pegasus refueling jets for the US Air Force Reserve, however, these will also be shared with at least one active duty unit, according to Rep. Ken Calvert, (R-Calif). &quot;March is expected to begin operating the new aircraft in 2025 and the unit will be fully operational by 2027,&quot; according to Sen. Dianne Feinstein, (D-Calif.).

In January 2023 the USAF announced that all KC-10s are to be retired by 30 September 2024. The KC-10 flew its last combat sortie for the USAF on 5 October 2023.

KC-10A Extender Conceptualized as the next generation of aerial tankers the KC-l0 combined the tasks of a tanker and cargo aircraft. Carrying more than 356,000 pounds of fuel - twice as much as the KC-135 Stratotanker – 75 personnel, and 170,000 pounds of cargo, the KC-10 could transport entire units of support personnel while re-fueling their deploying fighters enroute. The KC-10 could also be used to transport litter and ambulatory patients using patient support pallets during aeromedical evacuations.

Unlike previous re-fuelers, the KC-10's boom operator controls refueling operations through a digital, fly-by wire system. Sitting in the rear of the aircraft, the operator can see the receiver aircraft through a wide window. During boom refueling operations, fuel is transferred to the receiver at a maximum rate of 1,100 gallons per minute.

The KC-10 fleet was used extensively during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm in 1991, Operation Allied Force in 1999 and during the War on Terror following the September 11, 2001, attack.

The museum’s KC-10 Extender tail number 84-0185 was built in Long Beach California and delivered to the United Sates Air Force, March AFB in September 1984 with subsequent assignments to Travis AFB. It was flown to March Field Air Museum in 2023 for permanent display. It remains on loan from the NMUSAF.
